The Mark J. Gordon Foundation's mission is to provide equal opportunity to each and every life. The foundation meets this mission by educating and mobilizing our youth to be catalysts for change in their communities, and by providing infrastructure and leveraging partnerships for health care delivery domestically and internationally with the ultimate goal of bringing opportunity to the disadvantaged, while strengthening the bond of families.

Some highlights of the foundation's international work can be seen in the Kirinyaga district of Kenya, where the foundation has partnered with the Health Store Foundation to provide quality healthcare to the local community and for the 450 students of the Nyagathuci Primary School. Through this program the foundation is helping the community meet its basic health needs, providing de-worming medicine, PUR water purification technology and ensuring that every family sleeps under a long lasting insecticide treated bed net (bed nets) designed to protect them from the deadly scourge of Malaria.

The Mark J. Gordon Foundation takes the threat of Malaria very seriously. The foundation in partnership with the United Nations Foundation and singer Paul Simon, has distributed thousands of bed nets from East Timor to Kenya and Nigeria. The Mark J. Gordon Foundation is a founding partner of the Nothing but Nets campaign, along with the NBA, the United Nations Foundation, VH-1, Sports Illustrated and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Through Nothing but Nets we seek to engage the American public in our campaign to provide millions of families in depressed areas with a bed net through a proven distribution system.

On the domestic front the foundation not only provides financial support where it is desperately needed, it is also taking the time to create a new generation of philanthropists. By teaching today's youth the power of philanthropy through the SHAPE High School program (www.shapestudents.org) which comprises a substantial portion of the foundations domestic initiatives. Additionally, as part of a comprehensive domestic program the foundation is a major supporter of capital building campaigns with the Memorial Healthcare System of Florida and the Mount Sinai Medical Center.
